Shayna Paku | Administrator

If you’ve ever contacted our Academy with a question, needed a hand navigating enrolment, or simply wanted reassurance that you’re on the right track, chances are you’ve already met Shayna Paku our dedicated Student Administration, Welfare and Communications Officer.

Shayna joined us a year ago, bringing with her a rare blend of operational sharpness, calm under pressure, and genuine care for people. With extensive experience in student support, complaints resolution, account management, and high-volume communications, Shayna ensures that every student feels heard, supported and set up for success.

A Natural Guide for Students

Before joining our Academy, Shayna worked as a Student Support Officer where she helped learners across a wide range of enquiries with professionalism and empathy. She has worked across administration, virtual class support, corporate accounts, and student services, giving her an incredibly well-rounded understanding of learner needs.

The Detail-Driven Organiser Behind the Scenes

Shayna brings strong administrative expertise from roles in membership management, accounts, event coordination and executive assistance  skills she now uses to keep our student operations seamless. Whether she’s onboarding new learners, supporting welfare needs, coordinating communications or helping educators prepare for class, Shayna is often the quiet force making everything run smoothly.

A Creative Mind with a Māori Visual Arts Background

Creativity is also a big part of what she brings to the role. Shayna holds a Bachelor of Māori Visual Arts, giving her a refined eye for detail and design. After joining BFDA, she went on to complete our Certificate IV in Residential Drafting, and she is now enrolled in the Diploma of Building Design. Having studied the same courses our students take, she understands their challenges and milestones first-hand, allowing her to provide support that is both practical and genuine.

We’re Proud to Have Her

Simply put: Shayna makes BFDA feel welcoming. She’s the first hello, and the person celebrating students’ wins along the way. And although she works in the background, her impact is felt across every part of the academy.
